POSITION TITLE: Show Driver, CDL Class A
POSITION TYPE: Tour
TRAVEL REQUIRED: 100% Travel
POSITION LOCATION: Nationwide
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not Applicable
REPORTS TO: Transportation Coordinator
POSITION OVERVIEW: The primary responsibility of the Show Driver is to drive semi-trailer vehicles nationally to transport show tent and other materials from city-to-city for the duration of the tour season, which is February to November. Drivers also transport passengers in vans and pull trailers with other circus vehicles as needed and are required to spend non-driving time dedicated to show support.
II. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Navigate unfamiliar towns/cities, ensure safe transport of materials to destination, performing duties such as positioning blocks and tie ropes around items to secure during transit
*Inspect truck, equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water etc. in timely manner to ensure safety of vehicle several days prior to load out. Complete Inspection report and along with transportation Coordinator and resolve any issues with vehicles
*Perform emergency roadside repairs and/or minor maintenance, such as: changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains and spark plugs as needed.
III. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High school Diploma or equivalent must be at least 25 year of age to be insured by company insurance company. Valid Health Card is required. CDL Class-A license with safety certificates, awards and Hazmat Endorsement
WORK EXPERIENCE: 3 years professional experience driving. Experience can include OTR, local hauling, environmental services driver, sanitation driver etc., must possess a valid CDL driver’s license with a safe driving record with no moving violations within the last 3 years.
Must provide professional references from past employers, successfully complete a background check, alcohol/drug screening and pass DOT physical (with or without waiver)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CAPABILITIES:
*Able to lift up to 75lbs, the agility to climb over and into heavy equipment, and dexterity to work at heights over 10 feet.
*Able to read and understand oral and written instructions (travel packets, road signs…..
Demonstrate OSHA familiarity/training and knowledge of the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and state regulations
